Bicycle Maintenance

One of the most important – nay decisive – factors that will render the trip around South America either a huge success or a spectacular failure will be bicycle maintenance. Having the confidence and ability to confront a wide range of potential problems on the road and faraway from the nearest workshop is essential.

As such I’ve been focusing on sharpening up my existing skills and preparing to learn new ones. I recently attended a free maintenance session courtesy of Evans Cycles in Leeds, a useful refresher of the basics; the Cycling Tourists’ Club also runs expensive courses and qualifications at Bewerley Park in North Yorkshire and I’ll look to get booked on one in the new year.
